One of the most famous pilgrimage ways, used since middle age to connect Canterbury to Rome.
The Tuscan part of the way is very beautiful, riding it by bike allow you to discover real Tuscany.
San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, San Miniato, Siena, Gambassi are some of the most beautiful places on the route.

Via Francigena tour, Gambassi Terme - San Gimignano
The Via Francigena path is one of the oldest road existing in Europe, it runs from Canterbury monastry, UK, to Rome, accross France, Alps and Appennino mountains.
Obviously it crosses Tuscany from north to south, throughing countries of Lucca, Pisa, Firenze and Siena.
In september 13 and 14 the Palio Francigeno celebrates this trail, with a big tour, from Camaiore to San Miniato, then to Gambassi Terme, San Gimignano and finally to Monteriggioni...
We ride on the Gambassi - S.Gimignano part, with an extra tour to natural park of Castelvecchio...
Easy dirty roads and sweet hills are perfect for an extra shining day in september...
Another wonderful ride...
